Front Row Motorsports Carfax 400 Qualifying Recap

Track: Michigan International Speedway, two-mile oval, Brooklyn, Michigan

No. 38 Long John Silver's Ford Team Starting Position: 32

The three entries of Front Row Motorsports will all take the green flag of Sunday's Carfax 400 at Michigan International Speedway. The team qualified all three cars during a hot qualifying session Friday afternoon at the two-mile oval.

Travis Kvapil put the No. 38 Long John Silver's Ford into the starting field -- despite having to qualify on time -- at a track where he is comfortable and confident. In his first Sprint Cup run with Front Row Motorsports this season, Tony Raines qualifed the No. 34 Ford into the 39th position, and David Gilliland put the No. 37 Taco Bell Ford onto the starting grid in the 42nd spot.

Kasey Kahne grabbed the pole with a 38.465-second lap and a speed of 187.183. Jimmie Johnson will start the race on the outside pole. Mike Bliss, J.J. Yeley, Scott Riggs and Casey Mears did not make the race.

The teams have two practice sessions tomorrow to make final adjustments for Sunday's race, which airs at 1 p.m. on ESPN.

Comments from Long John Silver's Team Driver Travis Kvapil after qualifying:

"We had a solid day. We were really optimistic coming here. We were decent here last time. The track conditions were the big variable here today, I think. When the clouds came out, the track really sped up. It's really hot, so there's not a lot of grip.

"We had a little bit of an improvement over practice. The guys just had a really solid set-up in practice and we just tweaked it a little bit for qualifying and just kind of maintained our speed. It was nothing spectacular but it was solid and I feel like we've got something good to start off with tomorrow."
